Who we are
Ysgol Gymunedol Maenclochog is a Welsh Medium School offering education for 3-11 year old pupils and is located at the foot of the Preseli mountains in south-west Wales. Welsh is the language of communication with pupils and the language of the day to day business of school. The school communicates with parents in both languages. The original building dates back to 1880, but in June 2002, a new extension was opened, which includes four new classrooms, an ICT suite, Early Years Unit, a staffroom and Headteacher’s office. The extension was officially opened by Jane Davidson, the Welsh Assembly’s Minister for Education and Life Long Learning. A play area was built in 2009 for the purpose of educating the ‘Foundation Phase’. The school also has a quiet area called ‘Gardd Hedd’ where the pupils are able to chat quietly and reflect. Ysgol Gymunedol Maenclochog has good contacts and relationship with the local community and has a supportive and hard working ‘Home/School Association’. The school facilities are used regularly by the community and this enriches pupils’ education and develops a positive approach towards life long learning.
